Specializing in Secretariat/Nijinsky II X Nimmerdor Bloodlines for Superior Warmblood Performance Horses

Corazon del Caballo

Corazon del Caballo - "Heart of the Horse"
"Nurture the spirit of the child with the heart of the horse, and the strength of both will climb mountains."

Corazon del Caballo aims to serve both horses and people who need to overcome challenges. We serve or offer:

      Abandoned or rescue horses
      Horses with special needs
Affordable leasing programs to individuals taking lessons at Hunters Chase Farms
Opportunities to ride, train and otherwise work with horses

Please note we are NOT a horse rescue organization! While we certainly have a soft spot for rescuing animals, there are a number of respected and capable horse rescue organizations who are trained in the special needs and inherent risks involved in caring for abused or otherwise neglected horses, and we do not want to duplicate nor distract from those efforts. Rather, what we noticed was that while horses with special needs flourished under our care -- as they would with anyone who had individual attention and love to give to them -- we also encountered individuals whose circumstances were not conducive to their desire to care for, ride, or just be around horses.

We are currently applying for 501(c)3 status so that all contributions to our program will be tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

If we lease any of our horses, they will be leased under our Corazon del Caballo leasing program. In addition, we offer opportunities for individuals to learn about caring for the older horse or horses with other physical or emotional challenges. Here are some of their stories as well as other ways you can help the horses in our program:

Rojo - read about Rojo on our Our Farm Family page. Rojo needs someone who can continue to work with him on giving to the bit and continued desensitizing to outside stimuli. Rojo has navicular disease and requires special shoeing, as well as supplements.

Chancey - Chancey is a rescue horse. Read more about her on our sales page. Chancey needs consistent riding under saddle, especially working on her canter. She is a safe and fun young horse.

Disco - Read about Disco on Our Farm Family page. Disco needs someone to periodically groom him and give him iodine baths to keep his dermatitis under control.

Chloe - "Stop and Stare"
Chloe is a rescue horse who recovered from eye cancer surgery and then another surgical procedure to create a new tear duct to bypass scar tissue from the first surgery. Read more about her on our Farm Family page. Chloe needs continued riding, even just walking and trotting, to keep moving forward and learn to focus. She is still green especially cantering on the left lead and can have difficulty focusing when she is away from her pasture mates. Currently she is being ridden once a week but could use more frequent handling to help ease her transitions away from the other horses. She is ridden Western and being trained in barrels and poles.

Other Horses
We have several broodmares on the farm who used to be ridden but who have been left alone the last few years. They need handling and re-breaking. Since they have all known each other for years and are now in a new environment, they have a very difficult time being away from each other, so they need to be separated more frequently and handled. These are all lovely thoroughbreds and one Hanoverian warmblood who will flourish with more human attention. Check back for more pictures soon!
